About Us

I’m Laura, I’m 35 and live in Chesterfield with my hubbie Colin, 4 year old daughter Alice and not forgetting, a very mischievous little Westie called Charlie!

Louise and I have been the best of friends for just over 24 years now (wow that makes me feel soooo old)! We went through school together, got jobs, socialised a lot and then finally settled down and got married and had our beautiful daughters; who were in fact born exactly one week apart (not planned I’m hasten to add) and they too are also the best of friends!

I was never really that into cooking and was quite happy leaving it all to my husband, but all that changed two years ago, although not in the best of circumstances.  Sadly Louise was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2013. It was devastating news and a time in my life I will never forget.  She had to undergo surgery and many months of intense chemotherapy.  She had good weeks and bad and I soon realised she needed something to focus on, look forward to, and take her mind off everything and anything to do with the dreaded C word.

She had a passion for food and a love for cooking so I decided to try and indulge myself in the same and see if I could enjoy it as much as she did, and I’ve never looked back since!  If one positive thing was going to come out of what had happened to her, it was me developing the same love for cooking. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done and has changed my life and my family’s life for the better!

Soon into Louise’s first cycle of treatment we straightaway set about getting our diaries out and arranging 3 weekly dinner parties at each other’s house. We chose a theme to work with and decided on who was in charge of the starter and main and who was in charge of dessert and 2 years on we’re still doing it now! I can honestly say I’m addicted to cooking and Louise’s love for food has really rubbed off on me. I’ve got the bug for it and can’t stop!

Hello I’m Louise... I’m 35 and married with 1 gorgeous little 4 year old girl. I live in Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District. Food has been a passion of mine since a young age. My father trained as a chef, my Gran’s mother cooked for a film producer (don’t ask me the name... he produced black and white films J) so I believe its in my blood.

I studied BSc Food Marketing Management at Sheffield University and since graduating I have been working in the food industry for nearly 15 years. I head up the Development department for a company that supplies major retailers including M&S, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrison’s. I have also been involved in brand creation from concept to launch in various brands.

Outside of work my food passion continues with being a judge 3 years running for the local Food and Drink Awards, experimental cooking, meal planning, baking and generally trying to get my daughter to try new foods. I love eating out, visiting markets and researching new recipes.

Let me tell you about my ‘bestie’ Laura. I met Laura when I was 11 on the first day of starting high school. We both looked petrified and somehow ended up sitting next to each other. We have been inseparable since then!  Well today we probably text around 15-20 times a day and we’re mainly talking about food... ‘what are you cooking tonight’? sending pictures to each other. We regularly cook for each other’s families and set ourselves themes/ challenges...Yes we really are that sad! The best bit about cooking is we have a laugh over it... we joke with each other and secretly I know we try and compete with each other... People started taking an interest in what we did so we decided to set up a blog and share with you our laughs, love and passion we have for food. I hope we inspire you to add a bit of fun to meal times and realise that cooking can actually be fun.

Good food with good friends and family……… fun x
